We all know that Chichen Itza is located in a privileged location in the Yucatan Peninsula, surrounded by enigmatic Mayan jungle and beautiful bodies of water called cenotes. Many tourists from all over the world come to the peninsula to visit these beautiful natural pools.

If you are about to visit this great archaeological site you definitely can't miss visiting any of the cenotes around it. In case you didn't know, there are more than 7000 cenotes to visit in Yucatan, so you will have plenty of cenotes to choose from. 

Ik Kil Cenote

One of the most famous cenotes in the area, Ik Kil Cenote, to get to it you have to descend 27 meters either by stairs or if you are adventurous with an iconic jump from one of its platforms. The most beautiful thing about this cenote is its roots hanging from the ceiling, while you are swimming turn up and you will see the blue sky and all the vegetation around the walls that will form a beautiful postcard. It is also the closest to the Mayan ruins less than 10 minutes by car.

Suytun Cenote

One of the most Instagrammable places, this cenote is very famous for its platform in the water. It is a concrete walkway that at a certain time of the day is illuminated with a beam of light that enters through one of the holes of the cenote, which is closed and only has these entrances of light. It is located near Valladolid Yucatan, approximately 40 minutes from Chichen Itza.

San Lorenzo Oxman Cenote

This cenote is a well-preserved treasure in Valladolid Yucatan, with beautiful deep blue waters and ample vegetation. In this cenote, you can enjoy a pleasant afternoon swimming in the depths of this natural pool. In addition to the cenote, this hacienda offers other beautiful attractions such as a swimming pool, beautiful gardens, rest areas, and a restaurant.

X-Cajum Cenote

This cenote is located only 25 minutes away from the archaeological zone, it has a rich buffet restaurant with regional food, don't forget to try the delicious cochinita tacos. At the entrance, you will find a handicraft store, where you can do some shopping. The cenote is adapted to visit it, it has lockers, life vest rental, towels, and restrooms. This cenote is very large, the color of the water is emerald green, you will really love it. This place is perfect to refresh yourself after your visit to Chichén Itzá.

Lol-Ha Cenote

This cenote is located in the town of Yaxunah, just 30 minutes from Chichen Itza. The color of the water in this cenote will captivate you, its maximum depth is 16 meters which makes it excellent for intrepid divers to dive from one of its platforms. It is a beautiful cenote that you must visit after the Chichen Itza Tour.
