Our first stop will be Izamal, known as the City of the Three Cultures or City of the hills. The Mayans founded Izamal as a kingdom of the Itzaes. Admire the great Franciscan convent of San Antonio de Padua, the most important reminder of the Spanish conquest, the domination of the New World and the initiation of the Mayans to Catholicism. The convent, which has the largest atrium in Latin America, was built on an ancient Mayan pyramid.
In the afternoon we will continue to the most important capital of the Mayan world, Chichen Itzá, with its incredible architecture and culture. We will enjoy the sound and light show “Kukulkan Nights”.
